Here are just some of the courses that can be held throughout the Murray Mallee. All we need is a group of people interested and a suitable venue, such as a room at the local school, hall or library.

Profitable Farm Decisions

How many times do you wish that all aspects of your life and farm were balanced? Where will you be in 10 or 15 years time? Will the farm be generating enough profit to sustain the future generations? What do kids really want to do?
Continuous cropping or livestock - finding the balance! Revegetation Planning - profitable or not? Not rained yet - what will I crop? Finding the key to minimising and managing risk!
These workshops and more can be incorporated int he program "Profitable Farm Decisions".

Meetings Bloody Meetings

Individuals and groups will gain an understanding of meeting procedures as well as their roles and legal responibilities when taking on positions on community groups and committees.

Digital Storytelling

Learn how to use Multi Media to create a Digital story, using digital photos and/or video.

Digital Storytelling provides you an opportunity to capture your family history or occassions of celebration.  It can also be used in a work environment for the creation of training videos.  The ideas are endless and limited only by your imagination.

Emergency First Aid

This is a 1 day course which covers treatment for a range of common emergency situations. (ie first aid training and practice in CPR skills, bleeding and burns management etc.)

BASIC FOOD HANDLING COURSE

This course is designed to assist all food businesses, food handlers and caterers, both proprietors and staff to gain knowledge and the skills necessary to implement the new food legislation. Nationally accredited. - FDFCORFSY1A – Follow work procedures to maintain food safety. There are no pre-requisites.

 

RESPONSIBLE SERVICE OF ALCOHOL

Are you aware of the Liquor Licensing Laws? Your business/club may be in breach of the act if you do not have a licensed staff to serve alcohol.
This course is designed for people working currently in or who wish to work in a licensed premises such as pubs, clubs, restaurants, cellar door or restaurants/cafés. Also including individuals involved with service clubs who may be undertaking fundraising activities where alcohol is served. The course fulfils the requirements of the Liquor and Gaming Commission for Responsible Persons accreditation. There are no pre-requisites.

 

Senior First Aid

Overview (from St Johns brochure)
A popular, comprehensive course enabling a first aider to cope with most circumstances within the workplace, at home or in public. The Senior First Aid certificate meets the requirements of the approved Code of Practice “Occupational Health and First Aid in the Workplace”.

Modules
The ‘DRABC’ priority action plan, recording practices; managing emergency situations and multiple casualties; the unconscious casualty; resuscitation for adults (Expired Air Resuscitation and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation); communicable diseases and hygiene precautions; head, neck and spinal injuries; shock; wound care; external bleeding control; recognition and care of internal bleeding; burns; fractures; facial injuries; chest injuries; medical conditions including recognition and treatment of asthma, convulsions, diabetes, epilepsy, stroke and heart conditions; treatment for poisons, bites and stings; overexposure to heat and cold.

Assessment
Theory and practical assessments are conducted throughout the course. Reassessment of skills should be undertaken at least every 3 years to meet Code of Practice requirements although it is highly recommended that your CPR skills are validated annually.
A statement of attainment for the following Nationally Accredited Courses/Units of Competancy will be issued for successful completion of this course:

• HLTFA1A Apply basic first aid
• PUAEME001A Provide emergency care
• PUAEME002A Manage injuries at emergency incident
• 70108NT Course in Senior First Aid

CPR skills will be conducted on a manikin on the ground.
