A Flexible Learning Environment for the Murray Mallee The Murray Mallee Community Education Network (MMCEN) is a non-profit organisation made up of volunteer community members representing community groups, small business, primary production, TAFE and government agencies. The vision of MMCEN is ‘to establish a flexible learning environment for the Murray Mallee region that allows communities to pursue lifelong learning’. MMCEN facilitates opportunities for members of the Coorong, Southern Mallee, Karoonda/East Murray and Mid Murray Council regions. As a result of securing ACE funding, around 25 exciting courses are on offer. Some of these are: Thai Bites, Decadent Chocolate, Yoga, Massage, Tai Chi, Belly Dancing, Computer Shortcuts, Antiques—Real or Reproduction; Funding your Retirement Independently, Sharemarket or Real Estate, Picture Frames from Old Floorboards, First Aid. With the grant received, MMCEN aims to keep the costs affordable with an average per person cost (subsidized) of about $30 for every six hours of coursework. MMCEN has also received funding from the River Murray Catchment Water Management Board to enable a series of workshops with farmers to both undertake whole farm plans and also to review plans already in place. See agriculture section for more details. If you are interested in attending any of the
courses, facilitating a course in your region contact us. The vision of MMCEN is to
make life long learning more flexible in the region.
